Overview:

Will be responsible for advising/consulting on production engineering worldwide as requested by clients.  Of particular focus is assisting with evaluation of performance of existing wells, flowing or on artificial lift, and associated surface facilities to optimize well rates and recovery of reserves.  Will address a wide variety of producing environments from low rate gas wells to high rate offshore wells and a variety of producing horizons including conventional reservoirs, tight gas and shales.



Responsibilities:
  1. Provide production engineering technical consulting on the existing asset portfolio which includes conventional oil, tight gas, unconventional oil and gas (shales, CBM), and offshore developments.  Will also participate in integrated evaluation and planning of field developments to ensure life of well performance is included in the development planning process.
  2. Assist internal clients with analysis of well performance to optimize production form existing horizons or to estimate production performance from new zones utilizing NODAL analysis, pressure transient analysis, and other diagnostic techniques.
  3. Provide technical analysis and recommendations on artificial lift including rod pumps, ESP’s, gas lift, plunger lift, hydraulic and progressive cavity pumps.
  4. Advise on chemical treating of wells and surface facilities, and some water management and solids management operations.
  5. Provide analysis and technical assistance to clients on data acquisition for monitoring and diagnosis of well performance.
  6. Participate in various SPE, IADC, and other industry professional societies to seek state of the art knowledge related to production engineering.  Be aware of and monitor various Joint Industry Projects and project proposals to determine their applicability and interest to Marathon. Potentially represent Marathon on JIP projects.
  7. Investigate new technologies and determine applicability to existing resource base.  Make recommendations of those that warrant testing and development within the company.


Qualifications:

Degree:  Bachelors required, advanced degrees preferred

Major:  Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field

Computer Proficiencies:  Microsoft Office, Amethyst, Saphir, Propser, GAP, S-Rod, Autograph or equivalent

Certifications:  None required

Work Experience:   Minimum of 15 years experience is preferred
