The successful candidate will be a key team member in our efforts to upgrade our Petro technical environment to Landmark’s new R5000 synchronous release. In addition this candidate will work with team members in the domestic and international Business Units, application vendors, and IT to facilitate the use of a suite of technical applications as required. Duties include testing the applications, working closely with the vendor and clients to resolve application problems, providing workflow consultation, data loading, data management, and interfacing with IT on systems and database administration issues. Experience with the R5000 upgrade process and extensive Landmark data management skills will be required to succeed in this position.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist with design and implementation of R5000 system. 2. Work with team to migrate projects to new R5000 environment. 3. Application support including troubleshooting problems with software, licenses, access, and providing one-on-one workflow consultation. 4. Data management including quality control of database integrity, managing projects and large amounts of data. 5. Document and promote best practices in project organization and disk usage, e.g. workflow, naming conventions, load balancing etc. 6. Provide ThinClient (MaraPal) orientation for new users. 7. Liaison with Vendors (Landmark) Technical Support staff as needed for all of the above. 8. Maintain high level of expertise and knowledge of geoscience software applications, workflows, and data management.
Qualifications:
Degree: Bachelor's degree Major Discipline: Geology or Geophysics preferred
Computer proficiencies: R5000 upgrade experience, SeisWorks and Landmark data management skills required; OpenWorks, WOW preferred; Geographix, Geolog, PowerView, Petrosys, script writing, other geological software a plus; Microsoft Office Suite required. Years Experience Required: Minimum 7 years in computer applications/database management/data management/interpretation in a geoscience organization. Relocation considered: Yes
